Pottery Barn Inspired Cubby Advent Calendar

Remember I have been working on some Christmas Projects? Well I finished one just in time to start the count down to Christmas!

I have had this idea in my mind for quite sometime now and I finally had the chance to make one!

I built this Cubby-style Advent Calendar for Christmas! 25 Cubbies loaded with Goodies, Games & Fun to help us enjoy our countdown to Christmas!

I was inspired by a Pottery Barn Hotel-style cubby organizer, but I wanted to make mine a bit different.  I wanted mine to have a small place on the front of each cubby so it would almost look like each section had its own drawer.  I also wanted mine to have just the 25 cubbies for the countdown.

So I designed this one and just finished building, sanding, painting, staining, and filling it up with goodies so I could share it with you!

Now remember my post about the fun peppermints I made out of wood?  Well here is the other use I have for a Peppermint...

It is a marker for each day of the countdown.  When my kids take out the goodies they find each day, the Peppermint holds the place so we know how many days still left until Christmas.

Here it is with 23 days left until Christmas...

If you want to read more about how I made these Peppermints, you can do so here

Here it is with 18 days left until Christmas... (Really anything could be used as a marker, but I think these Peppermints hit the spot!)

I really enjoyed this project. It is simply made out of 1x4's and a thin sheet of smooth finish plywood I purchased from Lowe's. I ordered the label holders online from JoAnns they are made by K&Company.  I painted, stained and sanded  the wood  to make it look like rustic Barn wood.

It took me a little bit of time to figure out all the dimensions, but once I got everything together, I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

If you are wondering what I filled the goodie sacks with, well they are full of different candies, toys and crafts.  I visited the dollar section at Target and found some simple and fun things my kids would like to get each day.

I found some chevron bags, boxes and washi tape from
Cute tape, some bags from Michaels, and some Chevron wrapping paper from Target.  I wrapped all of the toys up in various bags decorated with trimmings of washi tape and ribbon and put them in the cubbies!!!

The kids have been so excited to find a special treat or game each day...

I am also excited about this project because once we are done with it, I can use it for really anything I need to!  Decor, organizing, Holidays!

If you would like to read more about how I built this, you can see that here or click on the photo below...

I hope you are enjoying your countdown to Christmas!  Happy Holidays and thanks for reading!
