Let's Bag it! DIY canvas tote bags!

I told you I had a sewing project I was working on.  I made some fantastic bags for my girls...   (I now have a link at the bottom of this post for the tutorial on how to make these fun ruffled bags!)

I saw these bags on Pinterest and was so inspired to make some!  Please note: These bags can also be enjoyed by women too! Think of the endless possibilities with all that great fabric out there! You could even just do one top row of fabric with a fabric flower! I just made these for my girls.

I've been wanting to re-organize our bag we take to Church.  I then started thinking, why not get each of them their own bag for Church or for whatever, (Car trips, grandma's house, the store, wherever we may be going that they would need a little bag of creative goodies to doodle with!).

The best part is, the actual bag is already made! I purchased the canvas bags at Hobby Lobby. Walmart has them too!   All I had to do was find coordinating fabric, cut and sew the strips, gather the ruffles, and sew them in place on the bag! I made a larger one for Madi, hers has fabric on the back also...

I made two smaller ones for the little girls...
I really can't say which one is my favorite, they all turned out soooo cute!
I think with Back to School coming up, I've just been in an organizing mood. Since I built the Pottery Barn Lockers in the garage, (which by the way, I just can't say enough good about these lockers and how fun they have been to have! )
(if you want to see more about the lockers click here or on the picture!)

I wanted each of them to have their own "creative" bag to hang in their lockers so when we are leaving for somewhere that they will need their bag of creative goodness, they are just ready to go!

My favorite part about the little girl's bags are, on the back of theirs they have some pockets already sewn in it!  Yippie!  These have worked out so well!  With the Back-To-School sales on school supplies right now, you can find crayons and pencils for such a great price!
I also found them little notebooks for their little hands.  Yes those are markers, but they are the color wonder that do not color on anything except the special notebooks that come with them!;)

A side note too, these smaller bags will also hold a regular sized notebook without a problem!
