I made a Chalkboard Backdrop and made a fun banner to drape across it out of burlap, material and old Jeans! I Chalked out an old school Scoreboard at the bottom. I then took some Pictures of him Pitching the other day at His game. I thought that with him being a Pitcher, why not do a motion-type styled backdrop of his windup and release! I enlarged them and placed them under the banner. He loved to look at the shots and told me about each step of the wind-up. He said, "You can see how much power I'm throwing with, by the intense look on my face in that last shot mom!"
I made some cute little Baseball-styled flags for cupcake toppers with my Silhouette! {I can't even begin to tell you how much I love that Machine!} Madi helped me make some "Baseball" Cupcakes that we put the toppers in.
We had Hot Dogs, Peanuts and Popcorn!
Not without Mention, Lemonade and CrackerJacks!
This next part is one of my favorites! To introduce this topic, McKay for years has loved to write his name in secret locations all over our house. Some of his locations have been Under the counter, on shelves I've built, moulding along the windows, and I seriously found one on the hem of the Bathroom shower curtain Liner in tiny print! He loves it! It's like a game for him to have us find his Name somewhere! So I had to take the opportunity to get him Back! I made a stencil on the Silhouette and put it on some Baseballs! Ha! Got him back! They turned out to be a great Centerpiece for the Table.
This is how I did the Baseball Name stencil. I made a stencil in Silhouette Design Studio, cut it out with the machine using contact paper...
Once the contact paper is pulled off to reveal...
My boys always tease me that I never sew them anything so I had to take the opportunity to tease them back. We had some old Sport-themed Pottery Barn Place mats, I took the Baseball one... un-picked the seam, stuffed it, sewed the opening closed to make him a Pillow for his Bed!
To Recap how I made the Chalkboard backdrop, I went and bought a large sheet of smooth paneling at Lowe's and a can of Chalkboard Spray paint. I cut the Paneling to the desired size I needed it to be with my Skill saw and then sprayed it with the Chalkboard spray paint.
Once it was dry, I drilled some holes in the top of it and suspended it from our outside arbor on the back of our house so then we had a great Backdrop for the party!
McKay had a great Birthday, He told me he didn't want a big fuss made over his Birthday, but I think he secretly enjoyed it!
