How to Decorate an Ombre Rosette Cake

This cake is so fun for Valentine's Day…. sooo I thought I would share with you how I made it!

When I did Madi's Birthday Party, I attempted an Ombre Rosette Cake.  I was very nervous as to how it would turn out and it was sooo easy and fun!!  I wanted to share with you how I made hers...

I first baked my cakes.  I made hers in a 6 in. pan.  I followed an easy and yummy recipe I found here... http://www.wwlp.com/dpp/mass_appeal/taste/baking-and-decorating-a-cake-from-scratch

I made three different colors of pink frosting. The key here is I made the frosting.

It works best if you make your own frosting and  not use the store container frosting.  I don't have an exact recipe.  I just start in my mixer a 3-4 Tbl. of butter or marg.  Add like 1/4 to 1/2 bag of confectioners or powdered sugar and small pour of milk.  Mix it and see how it looks.  It will need to be stiff to hold a rosette but not so stiff you  cannot squeeze the frosting out of the decorator bag. I adjust the different ingredients if it needs to be thicker or thinner, like more milk to thin it or more sugar to thicken.

I made my bottom row the darkest pink and then lighter for the second row and then the lightest for the top row.

I next took the darkest frosting and frosted a dirty or crumb frosting layer.

I used the next lightest color frosting and did a crumb frosting on the second layer...

and for the top layer, used the lightest frosting...

I purchased a 1M Wilton Star tip.
{Love to make rosettes with this!}

I started with the bottom layer and darkest frosting.  I started the star in the middle of where I wanted the rosette to go and pushed out a small amount of frosting...

Next, I started to circle around the star to the left..

I kept going around the circle...

continued to circle up...

and finished the circle up and stopped on a slight angle to the left...

I continued around the bottom row of the cake...
I did fill in some smaller spots with small stars where there were some empty places.

I did the same thing with the next row with the next lighter color of frosting trying my best to line up the roses with the rows...

and then again for the top row and and the top of the cake with the lightest frosting to finish it off!

I loved making this cake!  It was fun to do and so fun to look at!!

Kissing Booth Valentines…. A free Printable!!!

I designed some fun Kissing Booth Valentines and made them into a Printable to share with you!

What better than "Kisses" to go with a Kissing Booth!

The kissing booth is perfect as it is, or you can add some photos for accent too!  I did a photo shoot of my girls playing with Confetti.  I then made them into strips as if they were in a photo booth.  Cut them apart and placed them behind the Kissing booth

Here's Madi's…

I found some cellophane bags and red twine to bag them up with some Kisses and tied them together…

This is how I made them.  I  first typed in the girls name in the "from" section. I printed them on different shades of pink too! Cut a striped straw into thirds.   Cut the booth apart and then placed some glue…

Placed some glue for the straws to be secured...

Glued on the straws…

And the booth is complete!

So fun all sacked up and ready to share…

Here is the link for your free Kissing booth Printable..

My friend HomebyHeidi did a fun twist on this idea also.  You can see what she did on her blog HERE

XOXO
