Silent Night… Pallet Style

As I was preparing for my Show, I thought it would be nice to make some signs that have a very Natural Look to them to represent Christmas.  Thus the idea of Silent Night came about.

For Back boards, I used pine boards with widths of   7 1/8  in. and 11 1/4 in. Cut in various lengths that the pallets would fit across.

I next cut pallets in various lengths to fit the Back boards they would be glued to.  My large sign was custom cut with plywood and then framed with 1 1/2 in. pine.   I next laid out the pallets and glued and nailed them to their back boards.

If you would like to see a similar project with pallets and how I completed them, you can see them on my Halloween Pallet signs HERE

I next made the Stars by cutting long strips of 1/4 in. thick plywood at
1 1/4 in. wide  I stained them with a walnut color stain.  When that was dry, I sanded them down and painted white paint over them to give them a barn wood look.  I next cut the plywood strips in the lengths to fit the various sizes of pallets that they would be glued to.  For each star, I cut 5 strips.

Here is a tutorial of how to make a wood star… For this star, the Strips are cut at 7.5 in. long.

Now that you have your strips cut, you  will lay your first board at a slight angle...

Next lay your second board at an opposing angle as if you are making the letter A.  Glue them together at the top connection.

Next lay your 3rd board across the first two as if you are completing the Letter A. Glue where it touches the other boards.

Next lay your fourth board at an upward angle to the left and glue where it touches the other boards.

Final step is to lay your last board at an angle to the right. Glue. Let it dry and then affix them to your pallets wherever you may want them to lie.

Once the stars where finished and the glue was dry, and they were anchored to the pallets with brad nails, I then stenciled Silent Night that I cut into contact paper using my Silhouette Cameo on various places on the Pallets.  Project complete. A Simple, yet subtle reminder of Christmas time.
