Whoo do you Like?

I wanted to share with you what I made for each of the party guests "whoo" came to the owl party!   Every Owl turned out so fun and the girls LOVED them!

My Madi Loves owls. Last  Christmas I thought it would be fun to make her an owl.  Well, I couldn't stop at just one, so  I made one for each of my daughters... Here is a shot of theirs...

My girls loved them, (and still do!)  So this got me to thinking...

what if when I have the Mother & Daughter party for my girls at Church, I theme it with owls?  Then I could make each of the girls an Owl as a take home gift to have of their own??

Ok I thought, that is a fabulous idea, but I have 21 girls, so I will have to plan ahead, and yes I did!  I began sewing these in Feburary.  I worked on them off and on when I had a chance,  but I also had projects I was working on and other parties to do from April til August.   I had to plan it out and work on them when I could.  After several hours of cutting pieces & fabric and several sewing hours, I was able to complete all 21 Owls and the best part was how much the girls loved their take home gift!

I put some of them in front of the party table to hang out by the tree and Owl house. This is how they looked...  If you haven't seen the "Whoo are You?" Owl party, you can read more about it here or click on the photo below...
I have to share with you how I displayed the Owls for the party!  I was stumped for a while on how I could have them out at the party and also for the girls to choose one! We have a huge 6 foot plus tall hedge in our backyard.  It gave me an idea!  Sure enough, I stuck them all in the hedge! Don't they look so cute!! They just hung out there in the hedge during the party.  This pictures just makes me giggle!  I laugh every time I look at it!

I did them in all different fabrics and combinations...

The best part to me was how great the girls were about the Owls.  During the whole party the Owls were sitting there in the hedge.  Not once did a girl ask me if they got to take an Owl home.  I told the girls we were going to play a game with the Owls at the end of the party and that was it...

When it came time to give the Owls away, I talked to the girls for a little bit about what great girls they are and how important they are.

I then let them know that each of them would get to take an Owl home with them!  The look on their faces was priceless! They all Gasped!  They couldn't believe it!  They were sooo excited!

Each of the girls were so good about picking an Owl and they all seemed so excited about the one they received!

If I had to do it all again, I would absolutely!  It was soo worth it!  As I was making these owls, they kept me company for several months in my craft area.  When I would complete an Owl, I would give it a big Hug!  It was such a great way to end the party! The girls danced around with their Owls and named them and Thanked me for making the Owls for them!

It really was a fun party! If I had to pick a favorite Owl, I don't think I could.  I Love each and every one of them! They have such cute personalities!

Have a super Fabulous day!
With Much Love & Gratitude,

  1. Hello! I'm sorry I don't have a pattern for the owls. I just sketched mine out on a big piece of paper for my body of the owl and just went from there. I used a small bottle to trace around for the brown part of the eyes and just cut the whtie part of the eye out kind of like a flower. The nose I just kind of came up with by cutting a triangle. Sorry I'm not more help on that one. But they were fun to sew and give to the girls. Hope that helps!
