Old Crate Planter Boxes

I told you I had a project to post that I just finished... well here it is!

I have been so excited about these, I literally have been jumping up and down!  With all the fuss about using old pallets for different things, it got me to thinking.  "Why not make some old crate style planter boxes?"  So I did and I LOVE how they  turned out!

I used cedar fencing to make them.  Bought a package of handles, got out my tools and went to work!

Okay and Here is the part that I really LOVE....

I didn't know what to put on the outside of the old crates.  I wanted them to look like I found them and they were from an old company with a company name on them.  So I thought about it for a while and then I had an idea!

Why not use my kids' middle names and numbers that correspond to their birthdates and ages etc!!!

So I did!  I made some stencils on my Silhouette and Here is my boys' with their names. The birthdates and ages are all scrambled up so the numbers have Hidden meaning to us. Even the boys thought they were cool!
Another one, again with her numbers all scrambled up, but made to look like an old company...

When I was stenciling all of this info on, I was down in my workshop area. I was making the mad scientist sound... wha ah ah ah... My family  could hear me and thought I was crazy until I showed them how cool they turned out!

Ava keeps trying to find her name on the boxes. Cute!
I found some great flowers and planted them in them...

I love these boxes because I can use them anywhere, they add to the flower beds in our backyard.

I just love to go the the nursery this time of year!  So fun!

I'm working on the tutorial of how I made these planter boxes, so if you are looking for a weekend project, I'll have it for you!

Well I'm off to other projects, yes I'm still working on the Chicken run!

With much Love & Gratitude,

  2. Saw these, accidently, as I was looking around the yard for you this morning. So cute! Love how you mixed up the middle names. Can't wait to see what you do with the chicken coop too.
